Reiki is an oriental method of working with energy to re-balance and promote healing within the body. In its original Japanese form in the 1900s Reiki was very much about working on yourself: it was a system that you could use for self-healing and self-development. Reiki was first taught in the West in the 1970s, and since that time, it’s teaching has focused much more as a treatment technique used on other people.
The flow of energy during a Reiki treatment activates the natural healing processes in each patient's body, as well as restoring their physical and emotional wellbeing. As a Reiki practitioner, I help patients reduce their stress and anxiety, among other ailments.
The treatment is completely non-intrusive. Patients should physically feel a sense of relaxation and peace, whilst for many the mind calms too. Reiki can be so relaxing that patients have been known to fall asleep...but that's ok!
